A beautiful 6 strand challah bread, soft and delicate. This recipe is one of the easiest I have made and will become a go-to once you have tried it. Almost like a cake, love at first sight I must say. ❤️

Servings: 1 large loaf
🌿Ingredients
600 g 000 type flour
400 ml milk
60 g butter
10 g of salt
2 tbsp sugar
20 g fresh yeast or 7 g dry yeast
an egg for anointing
poppy seeds for decoration
🌿Method
1. Mix 350 g flour, sugar and yeast in a bowl.
2. In a pan add the milk and butter, leave to warm up until the butter is melted. Don’t leave to become too hot. We need the milk to be slightly warm.
3. Combine dry and wet ingredients using a hand or stand mixer for 5 minutes , until smooth and bubbles form.
4. Add the remaining flour (250 g) and salt.
5. Using a stand mixer or by hand, knead for 5 minutes.
6. Leave to rise at room temperature until double in size.
7. Divide the dough and start braiding your bread.
8. Leave to rise for 30 minutes.
9. Preheat your oven to 170C/338F/Gas mark 3.
10. Using a fork beat the egg with a splash of milk. Brush the bread with egg wash and sprinkle seeds of your choice.
11. Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown.
12. Leave to completely cool and serve.
